Students will refine their ability to create high-quality digital artwork using industry-standard software. Topics include character and environment design, advanced color theory, and portfolio development. The course emphasizes creative problem-solving and professional presentation. Credits: 4 (2 lectures, 2 labs) Prerequisites: ART-190: Digital Illustration I Corequisites: None Student Learning Outcomes As a result of meeting the requirements of this course, students will be able to: 1. Utilize advanced digital tools and techniques to create professional-quality illustrations. 2. Apply composition, perspective, and lighting principles to digital artwork. 3. Develop character and environment designs with a strong narrative focus. 4. Critically assess and refine their own work and peer projects. 5. Compile a portfolio demonstrating mastery of digital illustration. Means of Assessment Students will be evaluated through completed projects, critique participation, and portfolio submissions, which will reflect technical and creative skills covered in the Course Content section. Course Content This course includes lectures, demonstrations, studio work, and critiques. Major Topics Covered: ● Advanced digital painting techniques ● Character and environment design ● Color theory and lighting applications ● Composition and storytelling in illustration ● Industry-standard workflows and portfolio development Course Texts and Other Study Materials ● Students must have access to a digital tablet and illustration software. ● Supplemental reading and video tutorials will be provided. Research, Writing, and/or Examination Requirements ● Students will be assessed on their ability to create and present professional digital illustrations. ● Projects must demonstrate originality, strong technique, and effective storytelling. Grading Policy ● A: Outstanding work demonstrating originality, technical mastery, and creativity. ● B: High-quality work with strong technical competence and artistic decision-making. ● C: Satisfactory completion of assignments with some weaknesses in execution. ● D: Marginally meets course requirements but lacks refinement and creativity. ● F: Fails to meet course requirements or submission criteria.
