Students work with broadcast cameras in the television studio and with electronic news gathering technology in the field. Topics include digital image creation, lighting, camera operation, audio production, basic editing, and script-writing in order to produce short videos and television programs. 2 Lecture Hours, 2 Lab Hours, 3 Credits Student Learning Outcomes: 1. Demonstrate the creative and technical skills required in the television and digital film pre-production, production, and post- production processes. 2. Create a script and rundown sheet for a video production. 3. Demonstrate proficiency in the proper and safe use, set - up, application, and troubleshooting of all video, audio, and editing equipment. 4. Analyze television, video, and film content pertaining to audience, message, and format. 5. Produce a promotional video or public service announcement, a 1-minute news spot, and a 10-minute television interview program. Means of Assessment: All activities must meet the standards of acceptability according to the instructor. 1. The student will demonstrate the proper and effective use of broadcast & DSLR cameras, lighting equipment, editing, and audio gear. 2. Successful completion of 5 Class Assignments 3. Midterm Exam, Final Exam Text: There is no required textbook for this course.
